As part of their initiative to improve the treatment of concussions, Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth is pleased to announce the opening of the Concussion Institute at Gwinnett Medical Center–Duluth.

With the latest state-of-the-art technology and a team of highly skilled experts from across the country, they are committed to raising the standard of care for athletes who suffer a concussion.

With the Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing (ImPACT) program, they can diagnose concussions sooner and with greater accuracy. They offer treatment paths for neuropsychology, visual therapy and vestibular therapy to help athletes successfully recover in order to get back on the field and court safely.

In addition, they have placed certified athletic trainers in numerous high schools across Gwinnett and North Fulton. Their mission is to reduce the chance of follow-up concussions, thereby helping the student athlete’s performance both on the field and in the classroom.

A BlueHorizon Residential Treatment is a substance use disorders (addiction) intensive treatment program for men and women who suffer from addictive diseases. Services are provided both on an out-patient basis, with or without supervised recovery residence services. Clients work in a community environment with a highly experienced staff and are engaged in a structured treatment regimen that includes evidence-based treatment practices in conjunction with a 12-step based philosophy.

Real Recovery is a sober living, halfway housing and treatment aftercare program designed specifically for young men ages 18-28 that have struggled with substance abuse and addiction. Situated on seven acres of beautiful riverfront property just north of the mountain city Asheville, North Carolina – it is unlike any other program that exists anywhere in the country.

They take a common sense approach to rehabilitation. Rather than being institutional, they implement a highly structured program in a casual environment. All of their residents have individualized and structured plans in place designed specifically for them by Real Recovery staff. Their clients participate in daily group activities, therapy, community and 12-step applications in a supportive, brotherhood-focused community. Although Real Recovery is a halfway housing provider, their individualized and hands-on approach to the services offered for young men stand out from those of standard halfway house programs across the United States.

What makes them really unique, however, is their belief in teaching young men to live life on life’s terms. Their goal is to instill a love for the life that they have been graciously given. Fun, love and helping others are the answers to a successful rehabilitation at Real Recovery.

TLC Residential Clean & Sober Living Homes was founded in 1988. The present owner and director of operations Frank Montero is a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor and has been clean and sober since 1996 and has run various rehabilitation centers. They have experienced district managers who go to treatment centers to do presentations on sober living and take clients to see their homes. All of their staff are dedicated to the process of recovery.

TLC offers dozens of sober living homes throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area. These homes are set up exclusively for men and women recovering from alcohol and drug addiction. TLC’s intention is to provide the highest quality of living at affordable rates for those serious about recovery. Hyperbaric Physicians of Georgia is a medical practice focused on resolving wounds that are not healing with basic care. The physicians in their group are certified in wound healing and hyperbaric medicine. Their four locations (Whitcher Street Medical Office Building attached to Kennestone Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital lower level, Northside Forsyth Hospital campus, Bldg 1505, and Lithonia near Hillandale Hospital) are UHMS Accredited hyperbaric medicine centers. As MD Toxicologist, Dr. David Silverstein serves as the clinical liaison between Confirmatrix Laboratory and their clients. Speaking directly with the physicians and practitioners, Dr. Silverstein is always available for personalized, peer-to-peer consultation, interpreting analytical toxicology results, clinical correlation and customer service. Combining the ability to analyze HPLC-MS/MS data with his vast clinical and teaching experience, and knowledge of prescription medication and drugs of abuse, Dr. Silverstein provides the unique ability to partner with clients, and to bridge the scientific and clinical realms. He leads a team that performs daily review and audit of laboratory data and final reports to assure quality and accuracy, offering yet another layer of data review prior to results reporting.

Dr. Silverstein came to Confirmatrix from a laboratory setting, where his toxicology experience focused on drug and alcohol treatment centers. He has over 15 years of clinical experience as a trauma surgeon and critical care physician. Josiah’s House is a ministry of hope for homeless and destitute boys living in the Dominican Republic. The home is a beacon of hope for the impoverished community of San Pedro de Macoris.

Josiah’s House, when completed, will be a complex of four homes housing a total of 32 boys. In each home, eight boys and a married couple (house parents) live and grow in a family setting. Their mission is to give each child an education, Biblical guidance, life skills, and daily affirmation of God’s love for them.
